This smoothie came from the realization that spinach doesn’t make any difference in the taste of a smoothie so why not make a high protein yummy creamy smoothie that just happens to have spinach in it? It turned out extremely well. It tastes like a thick banana maple milkshake and it’s packed with vitamins without any refined sugar. (Just a little maple syrup.) Charlotte downed hers in just a few minutes. Make as is or add the bonus ingredients for a bigger nutritional boost.
What you need:
2-3 c organic spinach
1 frozen banana
1 tbsp almond or peanut butter
1/2 c whole milk plain yogurt (sub dairy free for paleo)
1-2 tbsp grade A or B organic pure maple syrup
1/4 c whole milk (or almond milk)
1 tsp spirulina
1 tbsp wheat germ ( great fiber!)
What to do:
Place all ingredients in the blender, adding enough spinach to reach nearly the top of the blender.
Use a wooden spoon to push down the spinach into the liquid before turning in the blender. Remove spoon and place the lid on securely.
Blend until very smooth, pour and drink immediately.
