Charlotte is almost 2 and her words and abilities have continued to explode. She knows hundreds of words and is speaking in full sentences, “It is hot today.” And she knows all of her letters by sight. So exciting! We’ve started writing small words on her easel to see if she’ll take to that next.
She can count to 20 more or less and knows most of the basic colors: Red, blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, white and black. She can recognize and say them when prompted.
She is potty trained except for an accident a week-ish except for her nap and bedtime diapers which should come off relatively soon. We used “Oh Crap Potty Training” book and online forum. It was three days of mostly naked and four more of hanging around the house for the majority of the day.
She eats with spoon and fork most of the time and seems to like most foods. No one thing has gone on a never ever list. We still give her sippy cups for our convenience but should try to get her drinking from a glass soon.
She loves to prep and help cook! (Especially eggs.) Last weekend, she got out the step stool and placed a pot on the stove and asked for an apron and a whisk – All at 7:15 in the morning. We told her to slow her role. (Side note- no we don’t let her handle hot things.)
We want to continue trying to engage all of her senses and memorization of important life facts like street names and the like and we’d like to add maps to her room. I also think it would be nice to have her take part in her own chores like her laundry and making snack, etc.
But honestly, I’m not sure where to go next. I’ve never had a toddler before and we’re not putting her in preschool for another year or two due to finances. Any suggestions?
